Tour: Munduk, Singaraja, Tulamben, Amed return to Ubud
I went on holiday to Bali in December of 2013. I stayed a couple of nights in the Swallow guest house. It was a truely beautiful and peaceful experience to stay in this guesthouse in the middle of the rice fields in Ubud. Wayan and his wife (who is an incredible cook) are very welcoming and perfect hosts. Wayan is a very friendly guy and I enjoyed touring around Ubud with him.
I also travelled with Suzan around Bali for 5 days. I was a little nervous at first travelling to Indonesia alone, but I felt secure with Suzan because you can really trust her and she knows how to communicate with the locals and with her you are able to visit new non-touristy areas. For example, during our trip, Suzan took me to see a sacred waterfall on the way to Singaraja, we also visited an early morning market near the old ancient capital city and there I was able to really experience the Balinese lifestyle. When we were up at Munduk in the North, we did a couple of beautiful spiritual hikes with Nyoman, one of Suzan’s friends. He is a friendly Balinese guy who has the most amazing and sincere laugh! Great guy to hang out with! Nyoman took us to Tamblingan Lake and to their beautiful waterfalls around the area :).
If you are a solo traveller and would like to experience Bali off the touristy track, I would highly recommend staying at the Swallow Guesthouse and travelling with Suzan. She is a responsible and fun travelling companion.
She made all the accommodation arrangements and is a very patient and lively travelling companion.
Very friendly and sincere. Suzan takes her time to talk with and get to know the locals
Definitely her patience and friendliness, her knowledge of the Balinese culture and just how you can feel at ease with her are her positive qualities as a guide 🙂 And she takes incredible photos!
I would love to travel with Suzan again in the future! 🙂 Would have many more laughs and insightful talks! 😀-Daniela Catania, Italian /age: 26
